Ms Wallman writes fiction and non-fiction. Her memoir about Saigon will appear in the July 2006 issue of Granta. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Smith College where she won the Elizabeth Drew Writing Prize.

Ms Wallman has worked as a freelance writer and editor, as a singer with the National Film Board in Canada and she has an album of English, Irish and American Folksongs on the SFP label, Paris, France.
